What data is included on the map?

Data was collected from WaterQualityData.us and includes data from the US Geological Survey. Data is up to date as of 1/9/2017.

We only include data since 1/1/2001 and exclude stream data; only data collected from a well is included. Of course, these wells may not represent all sources of drinking water - including yours. Our data may not be complete or even accurate! In addition, only measurements recorded in micrograms per liter are included. If the same well was measured multiple times, only the most recent reading is included.

What is the EPA's maximum recommended level of water arsenic in drinking water?

The current EPA standard is 10 micrograms per liter, or 10 parts per billion (ppb).

The EPA most recently updated this standard on 1/22/01.

How accurate is the information provided on this website?

All data is provided as is and is for educational purposes only. Don't rely on this website alone! We make absolutely no warranty of accuracy, of completeness or of anything else.

If you drink well water, you should have your water professionaly tested for arsenic and other contaminants.
